Mini Excavator Attachments: One Machine, Every Job

Dig, trench, clear, break, grip, and compact with the same compact digger. Pin-on and coupler-ready mini excavator attachments for 1 to 10 ton machines. Stocked in Miami, shipped nationwide.

What Attachments Fit a Mini Excavator

A mini excavator earns its keep by changing tools, not by digging alone. JMA stocks the attachments that do the most work on compact machines from roughly 1 to 10 tons: digging, trenching, ditching and heavy duty buckets; brush rakes and root rakes for clearing; hydraulic hammers for concrete and rock; mechanical thumbs for gripping; manual quick couplers for fast tool swaps; ripper teeth for hard ground; compaction wheels for backfill; rotating hydraulic grapples for handling; and bucket wear parts to keep everything cutting. Products are listed by machine weight class, and pin-on tools also carry their pin size in the name, so you can match a tool to your carrier before you order.

How to Choose by Tonnage, Pin Size and Coupler

Start with your machine’s operating weight. JMA lists mini excavator attachments in weight classes such as 1-2 tons, 2-3 tons, 3-4.5 tons, 4-5 tons, 5-6.5 tons and 7-10 tons. A tool sized for a heavier class adds weight the boom has to carry; one sized too light gives up capacity and takes abuse it was not built for.

Next, check your pin diameter. Across our catalog you will see 25mm and 30mm pins on the smallest machines, 35mm on 2-3 ton units, 38mm or 40mm on 3-4.5 ton units, 40mm on 4-5 ton units, 45mm on 5-6.5 ton units and 50mm on 7-10 ton machines. Two machines in the same weight class can run different pins, which is why several JMA products come in both 38mm and 40mm versions. Measure yours before you buy.

Mini excavator weight class to pin size
Weight class Typical pin size Manual quick coupler
1-2 tons 25mm or 30mm Available (30mm pins)
2-3 tons 35mm Available (35mm)
3-4.5 tons 38mm or 40mm Available (38mm or 40mm)
4-5 tons 40mm Available (40mm)
5-6.5 tons 45mm Pin-on or wedge lock
7-10 tons 50mm Pin-on or wedge lock

Two machines in the same weight class can run different pins. Measure the pins on your stick before you order.

Finally, pick your mounting style. Pin-on attachments pin directly to the stick and link. If your machine already runs a coupler, choose the matching head: JMA carries Kubota Wedge Lock, John Deere Wedge Lock and Bobcat X-Change style buckets, rakes and ripper teeth, plus manual quick couplers for 1-2, 2-3, 3-4.5 and 4-5 ton machines that let you change pin-on tools in minutes.

Which Attachment for Which Job

Digging and trenching

A trenching bucket in 6", 8", 12" or 16" width cuts narrow footings, drain lines and utility runs without over-excavating. Move up to a digging bucket or heavy duty digging bucket for general excavation and harder ground. Nordic-style trenching buckets are also available for 5-6.5 and 7-10 ton machines.

Shop buckets

Grading and cleanup

A ditching bucket is the wide, smooth-edged tool for shaping swales, cleaning ditches and finishing slopes, with widths from 24" up to 54" across the mini classes. Pair it with a thumb to pick up debris between passes.

Shop ditching buckets

Land clearing

Brush rakes from 24" to 40" and root rakes let you pull brush, roots and rock while sifting soil back onto the ground. JMA stocks rakes from the 0.5-1.5 ton class up to 4.5-6.5 ton machines, in pin-on and wedge lock styles.

Shop rakes

Demolition and hard ground

A hydraulic hammer in the 407 to 1,356 joule range handles concrete slabs, footings and rock on 1-10 ton carriers. A ripper tooth breaks up compacted, rocky or frozen ground so your bucket can do the rest. Keep hammer wear parts on hand to stay productive.

Shop hammers

Handling and sorting

A mechanical thumb turns your bucket into a set of jaws for logs, pipe, stumps and rubble, with sizes for 1-4, 3-6 and 6-10 ton machines. A rotating hydraulic grapple, offered for 4-7 and 7-10 ton carriers, takes over when the job is loading, sorting or placing material.

Shop thumbs

Compaction

Compaction wheels in 18" and 20" widths for 3-4.5, 5-6.5 and 7-10 ton machines let the excavator that dug the trench pack the backfill, tamping utility lines and footings without a separate walk-behind unit.

Why Buy Mini Excavator Attachments from JMA

JMA is a family-owned attachment business based in Doral, Florida, with stock held in Miami. Orders ship nationwide by FedEx and UPS; items over 50 lbs go by LTL freight, and orders confirmed before 2 PM ET ship the same business day. You can buy online, filter by weight class, pin size and coupler style, and read the fitment in the product name before you add to cart. Our attachments are built to fit Cat, Komatsu, Bobcat, Kubota, John Deere, Hitachi, Case, Takeuchi, Yanmar and many other brands, and the same catalog covers backhoes, skid steers and wheel loaders if you run a mixed fleet.

Every mini excavator attachment JMA sells is built from AR400 abrasion-resistant steel and covered by a 2-year warranty, with a lifetime warranty on the welds. Wear parts are consumables and are not covered, but they are easy to replace: our buckets run OEM-style wear parts, including Caterpillar-style, Hensley-style and ESCO-style teeth and Komatsu-style side protectors. If a tooth, side cutter or other wear part is not on our shelf, our US suppliers get it to Miami in 24 to 48 hours, or ship it from a warehouse close to you for faster transit.

Need something the catalog does not cover? Our shop in Miami modifies existing attachments in-house: re-bushing pins from 70mm to 80mm, converting a pin-on head to a quick coupler head, or swapping a bucket’s teeth to a different style (for example 1U3202RC to 1U3202F). Fully custom attachments are built to order with a 10% deposit; once you approve the drawing and specs, delivery takes about 60 to 90 days.

Mini Excavator Attachment FAQ

Short answers on weight class, pin size, couplers, hammers, steel, warranty, custom work and shipping.

Check the operating weight on your machine’s spec plate or manual and pick the product whose class covers it. If your machine sits at the edge of two classes, the pin diameter is usually the deciding factor: a 3-4.5 ton tool with 38mm pins will not fit a 4-5 ton stick running 40mm pins, no matter how close the weights are. When in doubt, measure the pins and the stick width first.

Measure the diameter of the pins that hold your current bucket to the stick and link, then match that number to the pin size printed in the JMA product name. Pin size climbs with machine weight, from 25mm on the smallest units to 50mm at the top of the mini range, but it is set by the machine, not the weight class, so always go by what is on your stick.

JMA carries buckets, brush rakes and ripper teeth built for Kubota Wedge Lock, John Deere Wedge Lock and Bobcat X-Change coupler styles, listed with the machine weight class they suit. For tools not offered in your coupler style, choose the pin-on version that matches your pin size and stick width, or run it through a manual quick coupler sized for your machine.

Yes. JMA offers manual quick couplers for 1-2 ton (30mm pins), 2-3 ton (35mm), 3-4.5 ton (38mm or 40mm) and 4-5 ton (40mm) mini excavators. The coupler pins to the stick and link, and pin-on attachments with the matching pin size then lock into it, so you can swap between a bucket, thumb, rake or ripper without pulling pins each time.

Match the bucket to the cut. A narrow trenching bucket removes only the soil a pipe or footing needs, so backfill and restoration stay small. A ditching bucket is the wide, smooth-edged choice for grading, cleaning ditches and finishing slopes. For general excavation and harder ground, a digging bucket or heavy duty digging bucket in your weight class does the work.

JMA lists a 407 joule hydraulic hammer for 1-2.5 ton mini excavators, a 1,018 joule hammer for 4-7 ton machines, and 1,000 and 1,356 joule hammers for 7-10 ton carriers. For driving posts rather than breaking, there are 350 joule and 500 joule post driver hammers for 1-4.5 ton and 3-6.5 ton mini excavators and skid steers. Your machine needs an auxiliary hydraulic circuit to run a hammer; match it to your carrier’s weight class rather than going bigger than the machine can carry.

Yes. JMA stocks attachments in Miami, Florida and ships across the United States. Orders go out by FedEx and UPS, and orders confirmed before 2 PM ET ship the same business day; items over 50 lbs ship by LTL freight. You can order any attachment directly online from the product page.

All JMA mini excavator attachments are made from AR400 abrasion-resistant steel, a hardened plate grade used for buckets, rakes, thumbs and rippers that see constant contact with soil, rock and debris. The wear parts on our buckets are OEM-style: Caterpillar-style, Hensley-style and ESCO-style teeth and Komatsu-style side protectors, so replacements are widely available and easy to match.

Every attachment is covered by a 2-year warranty, and the welds carry a lifetime warranty. Wear parts such as teeth, side cutters and side protectors are consumables and are not covered by either warranty. If you need a replacement wear part we do not have in stock, our US suppliers deliver it to Miami in 24 to 48 hours or ship it from a location near you.

Yes, both. Our shop in Miami modifies existing products in-house, for example re-bushing pins from 70mm to 80mm, converting a pin-on head to a quick coupler head, or changing a bucket’s teeth to another style such as 1U3202RC to 1U3202F. For a fully custom attachment, we take a 10% deposit, send you a drawing and specs to approve, and deliver in about 60 to 90 days.
