3 Steps to a Perfect Fit

  1. Match your machine's weight.Find your excavator's operating weight in the carrier guide. A hammer that is too heavy strains the boom; one that is too light wears out fast and breaks less.
  2. Pick the mount for your machine.Each JMA hammer has bolt-on mounts made for reference machines such as the CAT 303 or Yanmar ViO35. A mount fits any machine with the same pin size, ear-to-ear and center-to-center. Bobcat mounts fit every Bobcat excavator with the X-Change coupler. Not sure? Send us your machine model and we confirm the fit before you buy.
  3. Choose the chisel.A blunt tool is best for boulders and secondary breaking; a pointed tool is best for concrete and trenching. Every hammer page lists the chisels made for it.

Hydraulic Hammer FAQ

  1. Is a hydraulic hammer the same as a hydraulic breaker?

    Yes. "Hydraulic hammer", "hydraulic breaker", "breaker hammer" and "excavator jack hammer" all mean the same attachment: a hydraulic tool that hits a chisel hundreds of times a minute to break rock, concrete and asphalt.

  2. What size hydraulic hammer do I need for my mini excavator?

    Match the hammer to your machine's operating weight: for 2.5–4.5 tons the JMASB30EBH (611 J); for 4–7 tons the JMASB40EBH (1,018 J). For the smallest minis, send us your model for the JMASB20EBH (407 J) and we confirm the fit before shipping. Larger machines are in the size chart above.

  3. Will a JMA hammer fit my CAT, Kubota or Bobcat?

    Very likely. Each hammer bolts on with a mount made for a reference machine (for example CAT 303 or Yanmar ViO35). The mount also fits other machines with the same pin size and mounting dimensions. Send us your machine's make and model and we confirm the right mount. One head for your machine, with pins, comes with the hammer; extra heads for other machines are sold separately.

  4. Does my excavator need special hydraulics for a hammer?

    Your machine needs an auxiliary hydraulic circuit for a hammer, with an oil flow inside the hammer's range. Each product page lists the hammer's oil flow in gallons per minute (for example 6.6–13.2 GPM on the JMASB30EBH); the size chart above shows the range for every model.

  5. Which chisel should I use: moil point or blunt?

    A moil point (pointed tool) concentrates the blow and is the everyday choice for concrete, asphalt and trenching. A blunt tool spreads the blow and is best for breaking boulders and oversize rock. Every JMA hammer ships with a moil chisel and a wedge chisel, and more chisels are sold for each model.

  6. Do you sell parts and seal kits for hydraulic hammers?

    Yes. We stock seal kits, chisels, bushings, dampers and pins for every JMA hammer model. Parts are listed by hammer model, so the JMASB30EBH page shows every JMASB30EBH part.

  7. What comes with a JMA hydraulic hammer?

    Every hammer ships with a bolt-on head for your machine (pins included), 2 hydraulic hoses, a moil chisel, a wedge chisel, a tool box, a nitrogen gauge, a nitrogen bottle and a repair seal kit.

  8. Where do you ship from, and what is the warranty?

    In-stock JMA hammers ship from our warehouse in Doral (Miami), FL the same business day when ordered before 2 PM ET, and you can also pick up in person. Standard freight delivery takes 7–10 business days. Every hammer has a 24-month warranty; coverage varies by component (for example, the housing is covered 12 months on JMA 20–140 models and 3 months on JMA 150–220 models), and the full list is on the warranty card.
