Excavator Attachments: Match the Tool to Your Tonnage and Pins

Buckets, thumbs, rakes, grapples, hammers, couplers and rippers for excavators from 7-10 up to 55-90 tons. Every JMA excavator attachment is listed by weight class, and most pin-on tools carry their pin size in the product name. Stocked in Miami, Florida and shipped nationwide.

What Attachments Fit a Standard or Large Excavator

JMA stocks the full working set for excavators from the 7-10 ton class up: excavator buckets in trenching, digging, heavy duty, severe duty, ditching, skeleton, tilt, V-bottom, claw and banana styles; brush, root and bucket rakes; mechanical and rotating hydraulic grapples; hydraulic and mechanical thumbs; manual, hydraulic, dual lock and variable dual lock quick couplers; hydraulic hammers; ripper teeth, pulverizers, wood shears, compactors, pallet forks and aux hydraulic piping kits.

Coverage is deepest between 7 and 25 tons. From 23 tons up the range includes severe duty, heavy duty, ditching, tilt, skeleton, V-bottom and claw buckets, rakes, rippers, thumbs, grapples, couplers, pulverizers, a 25" wood shear, piping kits and the large hammers. Above 55 tons the only item listed by weight class is the 19,800 joule hammer; larger buckets such as the Cat 390 86" rock bucket are listed by machine model.

How to Choose by Tonnage, Pin Size and Coupler

Start with operating weight, not model name. A 20 ton machine buys from the 16-25 ton class; a 36 ton machine falls into 23-36, 29-48, 30-50 and 33-55 listings, and the pin sizes on your stick decide. Overlapping classes such as 10-15, 11-15 and 12-15 tons appear in product names; read the pin size and the width together, not the class alone.

Pin diameter is the number that stops most wrong orders. Two machines in the same class can run different pins: the 7-10 ton class has 50mm and 60mm versions of several buckets and the manual coupler. From 30 tons up the name often shows two numbers such as 100mm | 90mm: main pin first, link pin second. We size every attachment from the manufacturer's factory pin dimensions for your model. If your machine has a quick coupler, is a long-reach model, or has been modified, measure the pin diameter, pin-to-pin distance and ear width before ordering and we will check them against the attachment.

A pin-on attachment goes straight on the stick pins. A manual quick coupler swaps tools with a pry bar and a pin; a hydraulic quick coupler does it from the seat. Hammers pair with a bolt-on mount in your class and pin size, from 6-10 tons in 45 to 60mm up to 35-55 tons in 100 and 110mm. Hydraulic thumbs and hammers need an auxiliary circuit; aux hydraulic piping kits run from 7-10 up to 33-55 tons.

Which Attachment for Which Job

Trenching and general excavation

For 7-10 ton machines a trenching bucket in 6", 8" or 12" width keeps drain lines and footings to size; Nordic-style trenching buckets in 12" and 16" are also stocked with 50mm pins. A standard digging bucket in 18" to 42" covers loam and mixed fill, and compacted ground on 8-13 through 33-55 ton carriers calls for a heavy duty digging bucket, 12" up to 76". Match width to the trench, not to the biggest bucket the machine lifts.

Grading, slopes and cleanup

A wide ditching bucket with a smooth edge finishes swales, pond banks and backfill, from 36" for 7-10 tons up to 94" for 29-48 and 33-55 tons. A tilt bucket in 48" for 8-13 tons or 72" for 16-25 and 29-48 tons follows a changing grade without repositioning the tracks.

Shop ditching buckets

Land clearing and stumps

A brush rake piles brush and small trees while soil falls through, in widths from 48" for 7-10 tons up to 118" for 33-55 tons. For roots and stumps a root rake runs from 40" for 10-15 tons to 64" for 23-36 through 33-55 tons.

Shop rakes

Breaking concrete and hard ground

Pick a hydraulic hammer by weight class from the table above, from 1,356 J at 7-10 tons to 19,800 J at 55-90 tons. A concrete pulverizer for 7-10 through 23-36 ton machines crushes slabs for hauling, and a ripper tooth from 45mm to 110mm pins loosens hard pan ahead of the bucket.

Why Buy Excavator Attachments from JMA

JM Attachments is family-owned, based in Doral with stock in Miami, Florida. Orders are placed online; orders confirmed before 2 PM ET on a business day ship the same day. Parcel items (50 lb or less) go by FedEx or UPS, typically 5–7 business days; anything over 50 lb moves by LTL freight, typically 7–10 business days, nationwide. The range fits Caterpillar, Komatsu, John Deere, Hitachi, Case, Volvo, Kobelco, Doosan, Hyundai, Sany and Link-Belt excavators, among others, when sized to the machine's factory pin dimensions.

Every attachment carries a lifetime warranty on structural welds and a two-year / 2,000-hour warranty against manufacturing defects (year one parts and pre-approved labor, year two parts). Hydraulic components are covered for one year / 1,000 hours. Wear parts such as teeth, adapters, cutting edges, pins and bushings are not covered. Buckets use Caterpillar-style, Hensley-style and ESCO-style tooth systems; replacement teeth, adapters and pins are in the bucket wear parts range.

Fitment problems are solved in-house in Miami: pins re-bushed, for example 70mm to 80mm, pin-on heads converted to quick coupler heads, and tooth styles swapped, such as 1U3202RC to 1U3202F. Custom attachments run on a 10% deposit, drawing approval and roughly 60 to 90 days, with the production lead time confirmed in writing before the order is finalized.

Excavator Attachment FAQ

Short answers on weight class, pin size, couplers, hammers, thumbs, warranty, returns and shipping.

A 20 ton excavator buys from the 16-25 ton class, which uses 80mm pins. Heavy duty digging buckets in that class run 18" to 54", severe duty 18" to 66" and ditching 48" to 72". Confirm 80mm pins on your stick before ordering.

Measure the pin through the bucket ears at the end of the stick and the pin through the link with calipers, then the inside width between the ears. On JMA listings a single number such as 65mm means both pins share that size; 100mm | 90mm means a 100mm main pin and a 90mm link pin.

JMA sizes every attachment from the manufacturer's factory pin dimensions for your model, for Caterpillar, Komatsu, John Deere, Hitachi, Case, Volvo, Kobelco, Doosan, Hyundai, Sany, Link-Belt and others. Tell us the model and we confirm the fit before you buy. If the machine has a quick coupler, is a long-reach model, or has been modified, measure the pin diameter, pin-to-pin distance and ear width first; returns for fit issues on unverified machines carry a 25% restocking fee.

Order the attachment with the pin size and pin-to-pin distance that match your coupler, not the stick. Coupler dimensions vary by brand and model, so measure the coupler's pins and ear spacing and send them with your order; JMA can also convert a pin-on head to a quick coupler head in Miami.

Only if you swap tools more than a few times a week. A manual quick coupler is the lower-cost option, stocked for 6-9 through 15-18 ton machines in 50 to 70mm; a hydraulic coupler changes tools from the cab and runs from 6-9 up to 33-55 tons.

The 4,067 joule hammer fits 15-19 ton excavators; a 10-15 ton machine takes the 2,712 joule unit. Add a bolt-on mount for 15-19 tons in 65, 70 or 80mm, and an aux piping kit if the stick has no hammer circuit.

A main pin hydraulic thumb mounts on the bucket pin and is the standard choice for a pin-on bucket, stocked from 50mm up to 110mm. A QC main pin thumb in 50, 70 or 80mm works with a quick coupler. A progressive link thumb comes in 65mm (10-15 t), 80mm (16-25 t) and 110mm (33-55 t). All three need an auxiliary circuit; a mechanical thumb does not.

A lifetime warranty on structural welds and a two-year / 2,000-hour warranty against manufacturing defects: year one covers parts and pre-approved labor, year two covers parts. Hydraulic components (cylinders, motors, control valves) are covered for one year / 1,000 hours; hoses and fittings for 90 days. Wear parts such as teeth, adapters, cutting edges, pins and bushings are not covered. Written authorization from JMA is required before any repair.

Yes. JMA hydraulic hammers carry a 24-month component warranty; coverage varies by component (front head, back head, cylinder and piston up to 24 months on the 20–140 class; housing and hydraulic parts 12 months; seals, bolts and bushings shorter). Chisels are wear items. The warranty card that ships with the hammer lists every period.

Orders confirmed before 2 PM ET on a business day ship the same day from Miami, Florida. Parcel items (50 lb or less) go by FedEx or UPS, usually 5–7 business days; heavier attachments go by LTL freight, usually 7–10 business days, with a delivery appointment and signature. Liftgate service is available on request. Check the attachment for damage and note it on the delivery receipt before signing.

Unused, uninstalled attachments in the original packaging can be returned within 14 calendar days of delivery with a Return Authorization Number from JMA. The buyer pays return shipping, and a 25% restocking fee applies to non-defective returns, including wrong machine specs and unverified compatibility. Defective items, JMA shipping errors and carrier damage noted on the delivery receipt are replaced or refunded with no fee. Custom, installed, used or modified products and consumables such as teeth and pins cannot be returned.

Yes. Custom orders start with a 10% deposit, then approval of the drawing and specs, then roughly 60 to 90 days of production; the lead time is confirmed in writing before the order is finalized. Custom orders can be cancelled within 24 hours of confirmation and before production starts, with a 25% cancellation fee; after that they are non-cancellable.
